I was saddened but deeply honoured to attend two repatriation (ramp) ceremonies in Afghanistan. Anyone (friend, family, comrade) ever involved in these ceremonies knows the true meaning of the word respect. “Lest we forget”.

My father was in 🇬🇧 army. My grandfather fought at the Somme. My great uncle died at sea at the hands of a German U-boat. We recognise and honour the ultimate sacrifice that has been made by this soldier and our hearts go out to his family.

I was flying to Orlando to rent a car on American Airlines on vacation. They made a dignified comment for silence in honor of all veterans. Three minutes later, I stood up and yelled the pilot requested silence -- so SHUT UP. Not a peep. When getting off the plane they pulled me to the cockpit and the pilot stood up and said thank you for the reinforcement. And many passengers thanked me… that woman stayed on the plane until I was out of it…

I’ve never flown to New York to JFK or LaGuardia! I take the train which is Amtrak! I like taking the train better than flying. Cause it’s much easier.
